Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We spent the afternoon at our friends' the Driskell's house. We ate bean dip, drank sangria, and visited with friends. It's that what Cinco de Mayo is all about? In Mexico it may be about celebrating Independence Day, but in the States it's all about eating, drinking and fun!
Katy had lots of fun also. There were 3 girls - all within 6 months of each other - terrorizing the Driskell's home. Needless to say, lack of noise was not something to worry about! All three took turns being bossy, screaming, and then ultimately sharing and playing nice. Us Moms eventually gave up on policing the gang and decided to let them figure out things for themselves. It turned out to be a very nice night after the sun went down and so did the girls :)

Soooo much fun for all the girls, but super messy to clean up for Mom.

Happy Cinco de Mayo from the Vinsons!

The water table was all the rage at the party (for the girls anyways)
Katy now has her own at her house!

It was all fun and games until Katy poured water on Allie's head....

Bagley Weekend Fun!

Rich took a lot of great things away with him from Texas A&M, but the best would (hands down) be his Corps Buddies. They have been such a wonderful group of people and great friends to us and our families. Over the years, the girlfriends have turned into wives, and the late-night beer-fests have turned into weekend Barbecues with our families. We all really enjoy watching our kids play together and wonder if they will all attend A&M together someday.

April 14th Kara and Jason Bagley invited the gang out to their place in Emory, TX. There is lots of land for the kiddos to run, play, and get dirty. The Bagleys made some awesome BBQ, and we visited for hours on end.  We even enjoyed a late-night ritual of our own: The Midnight ATV Run. I remember riding on the back of Kara's 4 wheeler many years ago and laughing at the caution labels on the gas tank of her Polaris:
Warning #1: Always wear helmet and protective gear
Warning #2: Never use on public roads
Warning #3: Never carry passengers
Warning #4: Never use with drugs or alcohol
We were breaking EVERY rule at the time.

Times have changed, and although the Midnight Run did take place, it was watered down (literally with water, not beer like the old days) for the kids to come with us. Katy LOVES to ride and it looks like a pink ATV is in her future. Enjoy the pics!

You wanna entertain kids in the country? Just add water to dirt and let them play in the mud.
We didn't hear a peep out of them for hours....

Frequent stops are a must.
Who doesn't want to stand in an empty field and visit with your friends in the dark?

Trip to the Dentist

The North Dallas PTA organized a behind the scene tour of a local Pediatric Dentist. Since Katy has never been to the Dentist (and she is not a fan of brushing her teeth), we decided to join the tour. It was sooooo cute! The kids were read a story by the Tooth Fairy and they even got to take rides in the dentist chair.

Katy loved this large, stuffed dinosour with dentures glued in it's mouth. There was a large, yellow tooth brush next to him. It was supposed to be a prop to demonstrate how to brush the kids' teeth. But Katy stole the show as she crawled up in the chair and took over the brush!

I'm not sure if Katy is any better at brushing since our experiance, but the pictures are priceless!

Katy is all eyes for the dino in the chair...

At least I knew where to find her!

All the kids got balloons and stickers!
(Katy was still in the chair with the dinosour and the large toothbrush)

The kids also each got a book about Dora brushing her teeth!
It was a fun day!

Easter!

Since we were all still recuperating from Katy's big birthday weekend, I have to admit we didn't do much for Easter this year. It kind-of snuck up on me to be honest! I have a BIG box of decorations in the closet that I didn't even take out this year. And Katy did not visit the Easter Bunny for pictures - which I'm she she didn't mind after she screamed at Santa this past winter. (She is not a fan of people dressed up in costume). I didn't even buy Katy an Easter dress. So since we practically negated this holiday all together this year, we decided to escape to New Boston and be spoiled by Coco's cooking for the weekend. Excellent decision - if I do say so myself!

We did make it to church on Sunday. Katy had a vintage dress from an antique store that was perfect for the occasion. She looked like a little doll! We hunted Easter eggs in the house since it was rainy outside. Katy is not really into hunting eggs this year. She was more interested in what was inside an egg to look for the next one. It was a great relaxing weekend and we got some great pictures. Enjoy!

The flowers on the alter were dedicated in the memory of Granddaddy.

Katy's 2nd Birthday Party!

Katy celebrated her 2nd birthday with a Sesame Street party! She had 60 guests including family from out-of-town, playgroup friends, and friends of the family too. The guests enjoyed activities like the Elmo bounce house, and Elmo pinata, and Pin the Nose on Elmo - just to name a few. Katy's favorite part of the day was the tub of water set up for Ernie's Rubber Ducky Pond. She played in the water and was soaked by the end of the day. It was hard to limit the 255 pictures and pick out the best ones to share with you from Katy's 2nd birthday party, but here are some of the best ones to show you all our fun!
Katy was thrilled to see the Elmo bounce house set up in her driveway when she woke up Saturday morning!

While Mommy and Daddy were getting the party set up at the house, Katy enjoyed a lunch at Cindi's with her family that was in from out of town.

Once the party got rolling, the tub of water for Ernie's Rubber Ducky Pond was the first game the kids "dove" into!

Carol and Chloe had a great time!

Nicole and Duane with their precious son Cohen

The Elmo pinata was a huge HIT with the kids. Everyone got a good swing in, and Elmo was still hangin' tough.
Mommy had to step in at the end and give Elmo a few hard swings to get the candy out!

Finally the kids got to the candy!

Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Katy! She even blew out her candle! Such a big girl!!

Katy enjoyed her cupcake with Meg and Shea

Granny and Grandpa had a great day and enjoyed watching all the kiddos

Cousins Tylar and Riley enjoyed themselves too!

Then we played Pin the Nose on Elmo. We decided the younger guests didn't need the blindfold.
Jack did great (considering her could barely reach!)
Katy was a little off with Elmo's nose....

Katy thought she would show Max and Robby how to push the cart!

Mommy and Daddy had a great time with Katy!
Heidi and Chloe enjoyed a wonderful day!

Daddy and Katy took a short break to open presents inside.

Guests enjoying themselves outside

Max and Katy liked the bubble station and liked sitting at the same table together

Bentley decided he would cool off in the pool, and Katy thought that looked like a good idea.
So she put her feet in too - shoes and all....

Good thing it was the end of the day.
What a fun day!!
